Kangana Ranaut on Sara Ali Khan Temple Row: ‘Everyone Is Sanatani’

Actor MP comments amid debate over temple entry norms and affidavit requirement

New Delhi: Actor turned politician Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday reacted to the controversy surrounding Sara Ali Khan’s reported visit to Himalayan temples, saying there should be no hesitation in expressing one’s faith.

Her remarks come amid reports that the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has proposed requiring a written declaration of belief in Sanatan Dharma for entry into certain temples. Ranaut stated that faith should be openly acknowledged, adding that people should not fear stating their beliefs.

Committee chairman Hemant Dwivedi said individuals who affirm their faith through a formal affidavit would be allowed to offer prayers at shrines including Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath Temple. The proposal, which has been approved by the board, has been forwarded to the state government for consideration.

The development follows a broader decision to restrict entry of non-Hindus into several temples under the committee’s jurisdiction. Officials indicated that a standardised affidavit format has been prepared for those seeking entry based on their stated belief.

The issue has gained attention ahead of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, scheduled to begin in April, drawing focus to evolving temple access norms and religious practices in the region.
