Modi Government Delivered Transformative Governance, Economic Stability: President

Murmu says milestone reflects public faith in leadership, cites governance reforms and welfare outreach

NEW DELHI, Jun 10: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday extended her congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he became the longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, describing the achievement as a reflection of the people’s unwavering confidence in his leadership.

In a message shared on social media, the President said the milestone underscored the trust reposed in Modi by citizens across the country and acknowledged his contribution to governance, economic progress and social development during his years in office.

Modi achieved the distinction after surpassing the uninterrupted tenure record previously held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Having assumed office on May 26, 2014, Modi has now completed more consecutive days in office than any other elected Prime Minister of the country.

Murmu noted that the government’s efforts over the years have brought significant changes across multiple sectors, highlighting improvements in administration, economic stability and welfare delivery. She said various initiatives aimed at expanding development benefits to the last mile had strengthened inclusive growth and reflected the principle of ensuring that the most disadvantaged sections of society are not left behind.

The President also referred to tribal welfare programmes, including PM-JANMAN and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, stating that these initiatives hold special significance for her because of their focus on uplifting vulnerable communities and improving living conditions in remote regions.

She further said Modi’s political journey continues to inspire confidence in India’s democratic framework and serves as an example of public service and commitment to national development.

Expressing her best wishes, Murmu prayed for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life, hoping he would continue to guide the country towards the goals of self-reliance and becoming a developed nation in the years ahead.

The occasion has drawn attention to Modi’s decade-long tenure at the helm of the government, during which several flagship programmes, infrastructure projects and welfare schemes have been launched across the country.
