Jammu: Senior Congress leader and former DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-RSS while addressing a meeting, asserting that India’s awakened Gen Z and Gen Alpha would no longer tolerate political arrogance, unemployment, injustice or the alleged weakening of democratic institutions.
Tony said the BJP and RSS had taken the patience of the people—particularly students, unemployed youth, farmers and working families—for granted. He maintained that the younger generation was now prepared to challenge such politics peacefully, constitutionally and democratically.
“Gen Z and Gen Alpha have awakened. Their message to the BJP-RSS is loud and clear—No More Tanashahi. India’s young citizens will neither surrender their constitutional rights nor allow anyone to decide their future through fear, propaganda and divisive politics,” Tony said.
Drawing a parallel with India’s freedom struggle, Tony said the British rulers had also underestimated the courage and determination of Indians. They considered their rule permanent, but an awakened nation ultimately compelled them to leave India.
“The British took Indians for granted and paid the price when the country united against colonial rule. Today, the BJP-RSS is repeating the same mistake by underestimating India’s youth. The present struggle is not against a foreign ruler but against unemployment, economic injustice, political authoritarianism and attempts to weaken constitutional democracy,” he stated.
Tony accused the Modi government of allegedly using central investigating agencies to intimidate and weaken political opponents. He claimed that the Enforcement Directorate and CBI acted swiftly against opposition leaders while corruption allegations involving BJP leaders were ignored or quietly buried.
“ED and CBI cannot become political weapons of the ruling party. The law must apply equally to everyone. Those facing corruption allegations cannot become clean merely by joining the BJP, while opposition leaders are selectively targeted, raided and intimidated,” Tony charged.
He also accused the Election Commission of failing to demonstrate the independence expected from a constitutional institution.
“The Election Commission must protect the sanctity of the people’s mandate instead of appearing to dance to the tune of the Modi government and RSS. India’s youth are closely watching every decision, every silence and every instance of alleged bias,” he said.
Tony maintained that Gen Z and Gen Alpha would question every policy affecting their employment, education, income and daily lives. He said the government’s ethanol-blending policy would be among the next major issues subjected to public scrutiny.
“The youth will demand complete transparency regarding the ethanol policy—who benefits from it, how it affects consumers, vehicle owners, farmers and the environment, and whether private interests are being prioritised over ordinary citizens. Every policy must withstand facts and public scrutiny,” he asserted.
Tony said speeches and emotional slogans could not conceal the difficulties confronting young Indians. He accused the BJP-led government of seeking their votes while failing to provide adequate employment opportunities, transparent recruitment and a secure future.
“You cannot feed unemployed youth with slogans. You cannot repair leaked examination papers with publicity. You cannot resolve recruitment delays through propaganda, and you cannot hide inflation behind manufactured controversies. Gen Z examines facts, questions authority and demands measurable results,” Tony declared.
The Congress leader alleged that students and jobseekers demanding employment and fair examinations were frequently confronted with barricades, police action and attempts to discredit their movements.
“The BJP wants the votes of young Indians but is unwilling to hear their voices. When the youth ask questions, they are labelled, threatened or silenced. This is not democracy; this is arrogance born out of prolonged power,” he charged.
Tony asserted that questioning an elected government was not anti-national but an essential constitutional right and democratic responsibility.
“India belongs to its people—not to one party, one organisation or one ideology. The Constitution is supreme, not the BJP or RSS. No party has the authority to issue certificates of patriotism to citizens demanding jobs, justice, equality and accountability,” Tony said.
He urged young Indians to remain united, informed and committed to peaceful democratic action, cautioning that barricades could temporarily halt demonstrations but could never suppress an awakened generation.
“Gen Z and Gen Alpha are not merely the future of Bharat; they are transforming Bharat today. The Modi government will now have to answer for every failure, every broken promise and every wrongdoing. Those who take people for granted eventually lose their trust and mandate,” Tony concluded.
The meeting was attended by Raj Kumar, Ram Bhagat, Block President Fazal Hussain, SCBC Cell Chairman Madan Chalotra, Shamsher Ji and Suresh Shastri, besides several party workers and prominent citizens.
