Northern Army Commander Reviews LoC Anti-Infiltration Grid in J&K

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma assesses border security measures, witnesses deployment of advanced drone and counter-drone systems along the Line of Control.

SRINAGAR, May 29: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Friday visited forward areas in the Kupwara sector to evaluate operational readiness and inspect security arrangements along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Army’s Northern Command, the visit focused on assessing the effectiveness of measures aimed at preventing cross-border infiltration and ensuring a high state of preparedness among troops deployed in the region.

During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma was briefed on operational developments and observed demonstrations of innovative technologies integrated into field operations. These included the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS), which have been incorporated into operational procedures to enhance surveillance, response capabilities and overall battlefield effectiveness.

The Army Commander lauded personnel for their professionalism, resilience and dedication while operating in challenging terrain and demanding conditions. He acknowledged the commitment displayed by troops in maintaining vigilance and safeguarding the nation’s borders.

Emphasising the need for continuous improvement, Lt Gen Sharma urged troops to further refine their combat skills, strengthen operational drills and remain adaptable to evolving security challenges. He stressed the importance of combining technological proficiency with tactical agility to maintain a decisive edge in operational environments.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to review preparedness and strengthen defensive capabilities along the LoC.
