GUWAHATI, Sept 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to legendary singer, composer and filmmaker Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his 100th birth anniversary, recalling his immense contribution to Indian music and his role in taking the cultural identity of Assam and the Northeast to the rest of the country.
In a post on X, Modi remembered Hazarika as an iconic figure whose music transcended regional boundaries and connected people through his songs.
“On his 100th birth anniversary, remembering the legendary Dr Bhupen Hazarika Ji. His voice carried the soul of Assam and the spirit of the Northeast to the entire nation,” the Prime Minister said.
