PM Modi Chairs 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meet, Joined by CMs and UT Leaders

States and UTs join discussions on skills, jobs, education, healthcare and roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047

New Delhi, Jun 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, bringing together Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, Union Ministers and senior policymakers to deliberate on strategies for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The meeting, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, witnessed participation from heads of States and Union Territories, members of the Union Cabinet, and officials of NITI Aayog. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among those present.

Chief Ministers from several States attended the deliberations, including Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi and Haryana, alongside newly elected leaders from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

The theme of this year’s meeting, “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047,” centres on ensuring equitable growth and improved quality of life for citizens across regions and social groups.

Discussions focused on strengthening human capital, enhancing employability through skill development, encouraging entrepreneurship and expanding sustainable livelihood opportunities. Participants also examined ways to improve healthcare access, nutrition outcomes and social inclusion.

According to NITI Aayog, the framework for inclusive development rests on four pillars: future-ready skills, productive employment and localised growth, health and well-being, and ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for all sections of society.

The Governing Council also deliberated on an implementation strategy driven by governance reforms, digital public infrastructure, data-based monitoring systems and stronger partnerships between the Centre and States. Emphasis was laid on aligning state-level development priorities with national goals while ensuring measurable outcomes and accountability.

The meeting further reviewed recommendations emerging from the Fifth National Conference of Chief Secretaries held in December 2025. Key areas under consideration included early childhood learning, school education, workforce preparedness, higher education reforms, and the promotion of sports and extracurricular activities as integral components of human development.
