‘Ramayana’ Set for November 6 International Premiere, India Release on Diwali

Namit Malhotra confirms global audiences will see the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer two days before its scheduled Indian theatrical debut

New Delhi, Aug 08 : The much anticipated Ramayana will have a staggered theatrical release, with international audiences scheduled to get the first look on November 6, while the film is expected to arrive in Indian cinemas on November 8, coinciding with Diwali.

Producer Namit Malhotra confirmed the schedule while discussing the film’s international rollout. He explained that the November 6 date has been selected for overseas markets because the international theatrical distribution cycle begins on a Friday.

The Indian release is being planned for the Diwali holiday on November 8.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious adaptation features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol is set to portray Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman.

The two-day difference between the international and Indian premieres reflects the makers’ broader strategy of presenting the epic to audiences across global markets.

The film is being mounted as a two-part adaptation and has attracted substantial attention because of its scale, visual effects and high-profile cast.

Earlier reports had indicated that the project is being positioned for a worldwide audience, with the production team seeking to present the Indian epic on a scale comparable with major international theatrical releases.

For Indian moviegoers, the November 8 debut places the film directly within the Diwali festive period, making it one of the most closely watched theatrical releases of the year.
