Search Operation Launched in J&K’s Samba After Suspected Pakistani Drone Activity

Army, police and BSF launch joint operation to check possible airdrop of weapons or narcotics.

Samba, Mar 10 : Security forces on Tuesday launched a large scale search operation in Samba district after reports of suspected drone activity near the International Border, officials said.

According to authorities, movement of a suspected drone believed to have originated from Pakistan was detected late Monday night over the Daboh area, prompting immediate countermeasures by security agencies.

Following the sighting, forces intensified surveillance and deployed additional personnel to conduct a detailed search of nearby fields and residential areas to rule out the possibility of weapons or narcotics being dropped from the unmanned aerial vehicle.

A joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Border Security Force is currently underway in the region.

Security personnel also expanded the search to several locations in the Rajpura sector, including Bhai Nallah, Lala Chack and Malani, after receiving inputs about suspicious movement in the early hours of the day.

Officials said the operation is aimed at ensuring that no contraband or arms consignments were dropped in the border areas. The search is continuing as security agencies maintain heightened vigilance along the frontier.
