Set up by Army to preserve Pir Panjal culture, Community Radio team meets LG

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting with a team of young Radio Jockeys from Radio Pir Panjal 90.4 FM, a Community Radio Station located in Surankote, Poonch, at the Raj Bhavan. The RJs, Ab. Majid, Mohd Qasim, Faieza Tabasum, and Sara Fatima, along with Brigadier M P Singh and Lt Col. Vivek Singh, informed the Lt Governor about the radio station’s work and contributions to the local community through informative and entertaining programs. The Lt Governor praised their efforts to educate, entertain, and inform the public on matters of public interest. He also encouraged the RJs to create awareness about youth and women’s issues through their community radio.

The Indian Army set up the Radio station to preserve and promote the culture of the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The Community Radio Station broadcasts informative programs in different languages, including Gojri, Pahari, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, that address social welfare issues, women’s empowerment, youth employment, and tourism.

Recently, Radio Pri Panjal received the ‘Best Use of Radio in Public Service’ award at the 9th International Radio fair held in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, on World Radio Day.
