JAMMU: J&K National Conference today criticized the Government at the Centre for detaining the protesting wrestlers by the police in Delhi.
In a Statement issued here today, Zeeshan Rana, Additional Spokesperson of JKNC hit out at the government, saying that the “arrogance” of the BJP Government at the Centre has increased so much that it is mercilessly trampling upon the voices of women sportspersons under its boots.
The senior NC leader said that the medals on the chest of the players are the “pride of our country” but the Central Government is ruthlessly trampling the voices of protesting wrestlers under its boots. The whole country is watching the “arrogance” of the government and its injustice, he said.
Slamming the Modi government, he said, “Today, when the Prime Minister was inaugurating the new Parliament house and giving a discourse on democracy, the daughters who brought laurels to the country by winning medals were being detained just a short distance away from Parliament. This is shameful and shows the real face of the Modi government.”
Zeeshan said that instead of getting justice, they are in tears and the Prime Minister and his coterie, who make tall claims on women’s safety, are sitting silently to save the BJP MP. “Prime Minister ji, you will have to account for each and every tear of these daughters who raised the country’s prestige at the international level,” he said.
The senior NC leader asserted that the National Conference stands with the wrestlers, adding the party wants the Central Government to act on the demands of the wrestlers and the WFI Chief should be arrested without any further delay.
