NEW DELHI, Sept 1: As voting commenced on Tuesday for the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the people of the Union Territory to exercise their democratic rights with a focus on forming a government that prioritizes security, stability, and progress. Shah emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir requires a visionary leadership capable of making strong decisions to safeguard the region from terrorism, separatism, corruption, and the pitfalls of dynastic politics.
In a message shared in Hindi on X, the Home Minister called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote for a government committed to protecting the rights of all citizens, regardless of their background. He highlighted the need for a leadership that could not only ensure peace and security but also foster development in critical areas like tourism, education, and employment.
“Today, as the people of Jammu and Kashmir vote in the final phase, they should use the power of their vote to establish a government that will keep the region away from the challenges of terrorism, separatism, corruption, and dynastic politics. The new government must be resolute in securing the rights and interests of every section of society,” Shah stated.
He further stressed that voters should cast their ballots for a government that can advance comprehensive development across sectors, ensuring a future where Jammu and Kashmir thrives economically and socially.
The third phase of voting began on Tuesday, covering 40 assembly seats across seven districts, including the winter capital, Jammu. More than 39.18 lakh eligible voters are expected to determine the electoral outcome for 415 candidates vying for seats in this critical phase of the elections. Shah’s remarks underscored the importance of these elections in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on security, development, and lasting peace.
