NEW DELHI, Sept 10: Schools across Delhi will remain closed on Friday, September 11, in view of security and traffic arrangements ahead of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be held in the national capital.
The closure applies to government, government aided and recognised unaided private schools under the Directorate of Education, according to an official circular.
Authorities have taken the decision as the city prepares for heightened security measures and traffic restrictions associated with the high-profile international gathering.
The summit is scheduled for September 12 and 13, with several parts of the capital expected to witness restrictions and increased security deployment.
The temporary closure is intended to minimise movement on roads and help authorities manage traffic and security requirements during the period.
Parents and students have been advised to follow further instructions issued by their respective schools and local authorities.
Schools are expected to resume classes according to the regular academic schedule after the closure, subject to any further directions from the authorities.
