Government Forms High-Level Panel to Probe Diversion of Funds for Legislature Complex in Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 12: In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the alleged diversion of funds allocated for the construction of the new Legislature Complex in Jammu. The move comes amid growing concerns over financial mismanagement in major infrastructure projects.

According to an official order, the committee comprises senior officials from the Public Works (Roads & Buildings) Department, including the Engineer-in-Chief, Director Finance, and Chief Engineer (Chenab Division). The panel has been tasked with identifying the reasons behind the diversion of funds initially sanctioned for the Legislature Complex and establishing accountability for the lapses.

The probe is expected to clarify the financial irregularities surrounding the project, which was aimed at enhancing the legislative infrastructure in Jammu. With the government prioritizing transparency and accountability in public spending, the committee’s findings could lead to strict action against those found responsible for any financial mismanagement.

This development underscores the administration’s commitment to curbing the misuse of public funds and ensuring that vital infrastructure projects are executed efficiently. The committee is expected to submit its report within a stipulated timeframe, following which the government may take necessary corrective measures to address any discrepancies.
