Rising inflation is affecting Women’s Kitchens the Most: Raman Bhalla

Women, Who Make Up Half the Population, Can Bring Big Change

Jammu, May 26: Pradesh Congress Committee Working President Raman Bhalla, during his outreach programme in the R.S. Pura Jammu South Assembly constituency, interacted with a large number of women and local residents of Chattha Pind. He said that women, who make up half the population of the country, have the power to bring major change in society and the nation. He added that when women are aware and empowered, they can transform families, society, and the country.

Raman Bhalla said that women today are contributing in every field and playing a vital role in the development of the nation. He stated that women cannot be confined only to households, as they have established their presence in politics, education, social service, and the economic sector as well.

Raman Bhalla said that rising inflation is having the biggest impact on women’s kitchens. Women, who manage household budgets, are facing increasing difficulties in running their homes due to the rising prices of LPG cylinders, edible oil, pulses, vegetables, and other essential commodities.

He said that inflation directly affects household kitchens because women are primarily responsible for managing food and domestic expenses for their families. Rising prices have increased both their concerns and responsibilities.

Raman Bhalla said that the Congress party has always worked for the dignity, rights, and empowerment of women. Congress gave the country its first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, who set an example of women’s leadership. During the Congress era, the country also got its first woman President, Pratibha Patil, who brought pride to women by reaching the highest constitutional office. Similarly, the Lok Sabha got its first woman Speaker, Meira Kumar, during Congress rule.

He said that Congress governments opened the doors of political participation for women by providing reservation in Panchayats and local bodies, launched several schemes related to women’s education, health, and employment, and worked continuously to make women self-reliant.

Raman Bhalla said that if half the population of the country comes together and moves forward, big change is possible. He appealed to women to remain aware of their rights and social issues, saying that women’s power is the greatest strength for the future of the nation.

Among those present on the occasion were Amrit Bali, Pawan Bhagat, Sardar Harjinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Raj Kumar, Kewal Kumar, Babbi, Ravi Kumar, Lalit Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Sandeep Kour, Veena Sharma, Geeta Gupta and Pooja Verma.
