Bomb Threat Triggers Panic in Shimla Schools, Students Safely Evacuated

Panic Grips Schools After Threatening Emails

SHIMLA, May 4: Several educational institutions across Shimla were evacuated on Monday after anonymous bomb threat emails warned of explosives allegedly planted inside school premises, prompting an immediate security response from local authorities.

According to police officials, the threatening messages claimed that school buildings would be targeted in explosions, leading administrators to swiftly alert law enforcement agencies and initiate emergency evacuation procedures to ensure student safety.

Police Conduct Extensive Search Operations

Following the alerts, teams from the police department, bomb disposal units, and emergency response squads reached the campuses and carried out detailed inspections of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and other sensitive areas.

Officials confirmed that no suspicious objects, explosives, or harmful materials were discovered during the search operations. Authorities also conducted precautionary mock drills in some schools as part of the security protocol.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said investigators are working to trace the source of the threatening emails. He added that the messages were sent anonymously and did not contain any identifiable information about the sender.

Parents Rush to Schools Amid Safety Concerns

The incident created anxiety among parents after school authorities informed families about the threats. Many parents immediately arrived at the campuses to take their children home as a precautionary measure.

Despite the panic, officials said the evacuation process was carried out in an orderly manner, and students were safely moved out of the buildings without any injuries or untoward incidents.

Cyber Investigation Underway

Police have launched a cyber investigation to identify the origin of the emails and determine whether the threats were genuine or part of a hoax campaign targeting educational institutions.

Security agencies are also examining digital footprints and coordinating with cyber experts to track the sender. Authorities have urged the public not to spread rumours and assured residents that all necessary precautions are being taken to maintain safety in the city.
