14 Employees Suspended, 21 Issued Show Cause Notices for Absence in Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Takes Strict Action
Crackdown on Absent Employees in Poonch: 14 Suspended, 21 Issued Show Cause Notices
19-04-2023 : 14 employees have been suspended by Deputy Commissioner Inder Jeet for their absence from their designated duties without proper authorization. This action comes in response to complaints received from common citizens, PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions), and other sources regarding the absence of government employees from their workplaces.
To address the issue, Deputy Commissioner Inder Jeet formed a committee of officers led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik to conduct surprise inspections across all government offices in a phased manner. The committee focused on offices such as Jal Shakti, PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana), and Floriculture Departments. During the inspections, several employees were found to be absent without valid reasons. It was observed that these employees neither had authorized leave nor maintained any movement register for field visits.
Furthermore, the committee found that some HODs (Heads of Departments) who held important positions were unaware of the whereabouts of their immediate staff as well as field staff. In addition, some HODs were themselves found to be absent from their offices during regular working hours, which raised concerns about the lack of accountability and responsibility among government employees.
As a result, the committee, led by ADC Poonch, recommended taking action against the absent employees, including HODs. Deputy Commissioner Inder Jeet acted upon these recommendations and suspended 14 employees who were found to be absent without valid authorization. Additionally, show cause notices were issued to 21 other employees, including some gazetted officers from various departments, seeking an explanation for their absence from their duties.
This action by the Deputy Commissioner reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring the attendance and accountability of government employees in order to provide efficient and effective governance to the citizens of Poonch. It serves as a reminder to all government employees to fulfill their duties diligently and responsibly and to adhere to the authorized leave policies and attendance requirements.
