2 terrorists killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district

Srinagar: At least two terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police confirmed today. “Kulgam Encounter Update: 2 unidentified terrorists killed. Operation in progress,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on Saturday (October 10), confirming the incident. According to reports, security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Friday night based on inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon a security forces party, who retaliated. As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter. In the gunfight that ensued, as many as two terrorists were gunned down. A police official has confirmed that the operation is now over. One M4 Rifle and one Pistol were recovered from the spot.
