Rahul Gandhi Slams Mohan Bhagwat’s Remark, Calls It Treason and Insult to Indians

New Delhi, Jan 15: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his recent statement claiming that India attained “true independence” only after the consecration of the Ram temple. Speaking at the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters, Gandhi termed the remark as “treason” and an affront to the sacrifices of every Indian who fought for the country’s freedom.

“This statement undermines the Constitution and disrespects the entire independence movement,” Gandhi said at the event held at the newly inaugurated Indira Gandhi Bhawan. “To claim that India did not achieve independence in 1947 is an insult to the freedom fighters and every citizen of this nation. Such audacious remarks should not be tolerated.”

Rahul Gandhi also highlighted the challenges faced by the Congress party in its ideological battle against the BJP and the RSS. He alleged that democratic institutions in the country have been “captured” by the ruling party, and investigative agencies are being weaponized to target opposition leaders.

“We are fighting this battle under difficult circumstances where the BJP and the RSS have seized control of institutions. Yet, Congress workers continue their fight with unwavering determination,” he asserted.

In a scathing critique of the Election Commission (EC), Gandhi alleged a lack of transparency in the electoral process, citing discrepancies in voter data. He claimed there was a significant increase in voter numbers between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra, which the EC has failed to explain.

“The Election Commission has a sacred responsibility to maintain transparency in elections. If there’s an increase of one crore voters, it is their duty to clarify and provide the data. Refusing to disclose such information raises serious questions about the integrity of our electoral system,” Gandhi said.

Reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to the Constitution and its foundational principles, Gandhi emphasized that the party’s efforts have been instrumental in building India’s success. “The Congress has worked tirelessly with the people of this nation to build a democratic and prosperous India on the foundation of the Constitution,” he said.

He also described the ideological clash with the RSS and BJP as a “civilizational war,” asserting that only the Congress has the capacity to safeguard the country’s democratic and secular values. “Every day, these forces attack the ideas we hold dear. It is Congress alone that can counter their divisive agenda,” Gandhi declared.

Rahul Gandhi urged Congress workers to spread the party’s message across the country, using the new headquarters as a symbol of their commitment to defending India’s constitutional values. “This building represents the ideas that have shaped our nation. It’s time to take these ideas to every corner of the country,” he concluded.
