JKNC Issues Clarification on SPOs’ Honorarium, Removes Social Media Advisor for Misinformation

JAMMU, Jan 30: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has formally addressed concerns regarding a misleading social media post about the honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs). The party clarified that the post, which was circulated from multiple social media handles associated with JKNC and the Chief Minister, was published without verification, leading to unnecessary confusion.

In an official statement, the party acknowledged the lapse, stating: “A recent post concerning the honorarium of SPOs was shared from various accounts linked to JKNC and the Chief Minister. This post should not have been published, as it was neither verified nor cross-checked before being put out. While the National Conference has consistently advocated for an increase in the honorarium for SPOs and remains committed to this cause, no such development has materialized yet.”

As a corrective measure, JKNC has taken disciplinary action against the individual responsible for the erroneous post, stripping him of his duties as the Social Media Advisor to the Vice President of the party.

The party further reassured that it continues to push for improved remuneration and better working conditions for SPOs, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to their welfare. However, it distanced itself from the misinformation, reaffirming that all future communications will adhere to strict verification protocols to prevent such incidents.
