BTS Leader RM Marks Birthday with ₹1.2 Crore Donation to Korean Hospitals

RM donates to Seoul Asan and Korea University Medical Centers to support underprivileged patients

Seoul, Sep 12: While many mark their birthdays with cakes and parties, BTS leader Kim Namjoon, better known as RM, chose to celebrate his 29th birthday with an act of generosity. The global K-pop star donated a total of 200 million won (around ₹1.2 crore) to two major hospitals in South Korea.

RM contributed 100 million won each to Seoul Asan Medical Center and Korea University Medical Center. “I wanted to take part in something meaningful for my birthday. I hope this donation can be even a small help for patients who are struggling financially to receive treatment,” he said in a statement.

The hospitals confirmed the impact of his gift: Seoul Asan Medical Center said the funds will help cover surgery and treatment costs for underprivileged patients, while Korea University Medical Center noted that the contribution would go toward improving clinical facilities and expanding medical services.

RM’s generosity adds to his growing legacy beyond music. From his early days in Korea’s underground hip-hop scene to becoming the leader of BTS in 2013, he has been at the forefront of reshaping the global music industry. Alongside BTS’s record-breaking success, RM has carved out a strong solo career with projects like RM (2015), Mono (2018), Indigo (2022), and Right Place, Wrong Person (2024), all earning critical acclaim and Billboard chart milestones.

With collaborations ranging from Megan Thee Stallion to Lil Nas X, RM continues to influence music worldwide while using his platform to make a meaningful difference at home.
