J&K Crime Branch Nabs Fraudster Impersonating LG’s Duty Officer
Accused duped people of over ₹50 lakh through fake promises of jobs and land allotments.
Srinagar, Sep 15: The Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has arrested a fraudster who impersonated a Duty Officer to the Lieutenant Governor and defrauded people of more than ₹50 lakh by offering fake government jobs and land allotments.
The accused was apprehended in connection with FIR No. 10/2025 lodged at the Economic Offences Wing of CBK. Authorities confirmed that he has been booked under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.
Following his arrest, the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Srinagar, remanded the fraudster to five-day police custody to facilitate further investigation into the scam.
