Delhi Police Arrests 8 in Extortion Case Targeting Businessman
Gang allegedly threatened businessman over phone, fired gun to intimidate
NEW DELHI, Sep 29 : Delhi Police on Monday arrested eight individuals in connection with an extortion attempt targeting a businessman in the city. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore in the name of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to officials, the businessman, based in Delhi’s outer north, received a call from an international number on September 14. The caller claimed to be a member of the Bishnoi gang and demanded Rs 5 crore. To intimidate the victim, a gunshot was reportedly fired during the call.
Police are investigating the matter further and have stated that strict action will be taken against all involved.
