PM Modi Extends Warm Wishes to Devotees on Kharna Puja

Prime Minister Modi highlights the spirit of faith and devotion as devotees across India observe Kharna Puja, marking a key ritual of the Chhath festival.

New Delhi, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his warm wishes to devotees on the occasion of Kharna Puja, an important ritual in the four day Chhath festival celebrated with deep devotion across parts of India.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister said, “Heartfelt greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Parva’s Kharna Puja. Respectful salutations to all the devotees observing the fast!”

Kharna Puja marks the second day of the Chhath festival and is observed with prayers, fasting, and preparation of satvik prasad a simple offering made with jaggery-based kheer and rice. The ritual symbolizes faith, purity, and restraint, as devotees express gratitude to Chhathi Maiya and the Sun God for health, prosperity, and well being.

PM Modi, in his message, wished that Chhathi Maiya blesses everyone with happiness and prosperity. “On this sacred occasion, which symbolizes faith and restraint, there is a tradition of partaking in satvik prasad prepared with jaggery based kheer. My wish is that Chhathi Maiya blesses everyone with her grace,” he said.

The Chhath Puja is among India’s most revered festivals, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Delhi and Nepal. Devotees observe rigorous rituals over four days, including fasting, holy bathing, and offering prayers to the rising and setting sun.

PM Modi’s greetings underscored the cultural and spiritual essence of Chhath, reflecting the government’s emphasis on celebrating India’s traditional festivals and promoting its rich heritage.
