PDP Leader Waheed Para Accuses J&K Govt of Regional Bias in Certificate Distribution, Calls for Fair Governance
PDP leader cites official data showing Jammu’s dominance in SC, ST, OBC, and EWS certificates; urges review of reservation system to ensure equity
SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para on Tuesday accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration of fostering regional imbalance in the issuance of social category certificates, citing data presented by the Revenue Department in the Legislative Assembly.
Para claimed that the figures reveal a stark disparity between Jammu and Kashmir divisions in the distribution of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificates over the past two years.
In a post on X, Para wrote, “Data shared by the Revenue Department reveals a sharp regional divide in certificate issuance over the last two years,” describing it as a “serious breach of fairness, equality, and administrative impartiality.”
According to the official data, Jammu dominates in most categories SC (99.2%), ST (87.2%), OBC (56.6%), EWS (88.5%), and ALC (85.2%) while Kashmir leads only in the Residents of Backward Area (RBA) category with 67.1%.
Para asserted that such disparities expose deep seated bias and undermine the principles of justice and balanced development. He urged the government to rationalize the reservation policy in line with population ratios to ensure equity and restore public confidence in governance.
“The administration must take immediate corrective steps to uphold fairness and equality across regions,” the PDP leader added.
