Government announces revised guidelines for determining seniority in Jammu & Kashmir Police

New notification outlines seniority norms based on appointment order, merit, and training completion

Jammu & Kashmir, Nov 4 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a fresh notification amending Rule 111 of the J&K Police Rules, 1960, to redefine how seniority is determined within the police force.

According to the new order, officers appointed or promoted will have their seniority determined by the order of appointment or promotion, with direct recruits being placed first if the date of joining is the same.

The revised rules also specify that candidates required to pass departmental courses for confirmation will have their seniority determined by aggregate merit, calculated equally from their performance at the time of selection and during basic training.

Those who complete their training or confirmation later will be ranked at the end of their batch. In the event of a tie in aggregate merit, the older officer will be given seniority over the younger one.
