BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Making Excuses Ahead of Expected Bihar Poll Defeat

Party leaders dismiss Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote theft’ claims in Haryana as baseless, calling them diversionary tactics to cover up the opposition’s looming loss in Bihar.

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday hit back at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his recent allegations of large scale electoral fraud in the 2024 Haryana assembly polls, calling his claims “baseless” and a “pre-emptive excuse” for the opposition’s likely defeat in the upcoming Bihar elections.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accused Rahul of “trying to mislead and incite Gen Z against the government,” asserting that India’s youth continue to back Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the country’s rapid economic progress.

“Rahul Gandhi’s baseless vote-theft allegations reflect a defeatist mentality and are devoid of any evidence,” Rijiju said.

Bihar poll in charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan went further, calling Rahul “a research centre of lies and false narratives.” He added, “Nobody takes him seriously. This press conference was just a gimmick to shield himself from the impending Bihar poll loss.”

Pradhan claimed that the Congress and its allies in the Mahagathbandhan were “in complete disarray,” while voters were “firmly standing with the NDA and PM Modi’s vision for development.”

Citing Rahul’s claim that a woman voted 223 times across two booths, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya mocked the statement as “downright laughable.”
“It would mean one vote every three minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  without anyone noticing, not even polling officers or security personnel,” Malviya posted on X.

Rijiju also pointed out that the Congress never approached the courts or followed due legal procedures despite having full access to the electoral rolls, polling, and counting processes.

“The truth is simple  Rahul Gandhi wants to wash his hands of the Bihar defeat before it even happens. The people of Bihar and the youth of India see through his drama,” Rijiju said.
