Bishnah Police Arrest Man with Sharp-Edged Weapon During Routine Patrol
Jammu, November 7: In a prompt action reflecting heightened police vigilance, Bishnah Police today arrested a man for possessing a sharp-edged weapon during a routine patrol in Sikanderpur village, falling under the jurisdiction of the R S Pura Subdivision. The accused has been identified as Abdul Hamid, son of Mohammad Bashir, a resident of Gidder Galiya.
According to official sources, a police team conducting regular area domination and patrolling operations intercepted Hamid after observing suspicious movements in the area. Upon searching him, the team recovered a sharp-edged weapon, commonly referred to as a ‘toka’, which was immediately seized as evidence. The accused was taken into custody on the spot.
A formal case has been registered under FIR Number 127/2025 at Police Station Bishnah under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. The police have launched further investigation to determine the motive behind carrying the weapon and whether the accused has any prior criminal record or connections with unlawful activities.
Officials stated that the arrest is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and prevent criminal elements from disrupting peace in the region. Routine patrolling and random checks have been intensified in recent weeks, especially in semi-rural belts like Bishnah, to deter potential offenders.
The operation was conducted under the close supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) Bishnah, coordinated by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R S Pura, and overseen by the Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Jammu. Police officials appreciated the swift and alert action of the patrolling team that led to the recovery of the weapon and the immediate arrest of the suspect.
