PM Modi Calls Uttarakhand the Ideal Destination for Weddings, Films, and Spiritual Tourism

At Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day, the Prime Minister urges the hill state to become the “spiritual capital of the world” while promoting wellness, Ayurveda, and destination tourism.

Uttarakhand, Nov 10 : As Uttarakhand marked 25 years of its formation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned a transformative future for the Himalayan state one rooted in spirituality, wellness, and world-class tourism.

Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, PM Modi hailed Uttarakhand’s impressive development and said the state’s natural and spiritual wealth could make it the “spiritual capital of the world.”

He urged the state government and people to tap into the global appeal of yoga, Ayurveda, and wellness tourism. “If Uttarakhand decides, it can establish itself as the spiritual capital of the world,” he said, proposing that temples, ashrams, and yoga centers be linked with international wellness networks to attract visitors worldwide.

Highlighting the rising demand for Uttarakhand’s herbs and Ayurvedic products, the Prime Minister called for each assembly constituency to create a dedicated wellness circuit combining yoga centers, Ayurveda hubs, and naturopathy institutes to generate employment and boost tourism.

Expanding his vision beyond spirituality, PM Modi spotlighted the state’s potential in weddings and filmmaking. Praising its scenic landscapes, he announced the “Wed in India” initiative, urging that Uttarakhand develop five to seven premier wedding destinations equipped with world class facilities.

“Uttarakhand is becoming popular as a wedding destination. For ‘Wed in India,’ the state should be developed with global-standard infrastructure,” he said.

PM Modi also lauded the state’s new film policy, which has simplified shooting permissions and opened new avenues for filmmakers. “The world should see the beauty of Uttarakhand through films and celebrations,” he added, envisioning the state as a beacon of love, art, and spirituality.
