IEB National Sports Meet Concludes in Haridwar; Patanjali Gurukulam Shines in Wrestling and Kabaddi
Young Athletes Shine as Phase One Concludes, Competition to Move Next to Agra, Lucknow, and Jaipur
Haridwar, Nov 11: The first phase of the Indian Education Board (IEB) National Sports Competition concluded successfully at the Patanjali Acharyakulam grounds in Haridwar. Over two days, young athletes from 50 schools across India competed in multiple events, showcasing skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The national-level tournament, organized under the Indian Education Board, will now continue in Agra (Nov 13–14), Lucknow (Nov 17–18), and Jaipur (Nov 21–22), with the grand finale scheduled thereafter. The event attracted over 150 schools from Haridwar and nearby districts, who cheered enthusiastically for their teams.
Patanjali Yogpeeth General Secretary Acharya Balkrishna praised the young athletes for their commitment and energy, stating, “These children will make the nation proud on international platforms in the future.” Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev blessed the participants and announced the upcoming construction of an indoor stadium at Patanjali, aimed at hosting national and international events.
IEB Acting Chairman NP Singh shared details of the next competition rounds and distributed medals and certificates to winners, while National Coordinator Swami Punya Dev Maharaj highlighted the event’s focus on teamwork, discipline, and respect.
Several dignitaries attended, including Dr. Ritambhara (Vice President, Acharyakulam), Swati Munshi (Principal, Acharyakulam), Satyendra Panwar (Affiliation Advisor, IEB), and Swami Eesh Dev (Principal, Patanjali Gurukulam), with the stage program hosted by Vandana Pandey.
Competition Highlights:
Kabaddi: Acharyakulam Haridwar dominated Boys and Girls Under-17 and Under-19 categories, securing multiple gold medals; Patanjali Gurukulam Haridwar and Azad Hind Inter College Mau took runner-up positions.
Handball: Acharyakulam Haridwar claimed victories across Boys and Girls Under-17 and Under-19 events; Rainbow Academy Kotdwar finished second in Under-17 categories.
Mallakhamb: Patanjali Gurukulam Haridwar athletes won gold in both Boys Under-17 and Under-19 categories.
Wrestling: Exciting matches in Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles saw Patanjali Gurukulam Haridwar and Gurukul Kishangarh Ghaseda, Haryana sharing top honors across multiple weight categories. Notable winners included Abhijeet, Shubham, Shivansh, Vishan, and Mohan.
The first phase of the competition highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship, skill development, and healthy competition, setting the stage for the upcoming rounds in Agra, Lucknow, and Jaipur.
