BJP, NC Take Early Lead in Nagrota and Budgam Bypolls, Show Initial Trends

Initial counting trends show competitive contests in both J&K constituencies

SRINagar, Nov 14: Early counting trends from the Election Commission on Friday showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking an initial lead in Nagrota, while the National Conference (NC) moved ahead in Budgam as counting began for the Assembly by elections in Jammu & Kashmir.

In Nagrota, BJP candidate Devyani Rana has gained an early advantage over Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (India) candidate Harsh Dev Singh, leading by 1,111 votes after the first of 11 rounds, according to details accessed by news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC).

In Budgam, NC candidate Aga Syed Mahmood Al Mosavi is ahead of his closest contender, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, with an initial margin of 624 votes after the first of 17 rounds, as per Election Commission trends.

Officials said counting for both seats is still underway, and margins are likely to fluctuate as subsequent rounds are completed.
