Nitish Kumar Takes Oath Today for Record 10th Term as Bihar CM, PM Modi to Attend Ceremony
PM Modi, top Union ministers and over a dozen chief ministers to attend mega event expected to draw lakhs
Patna, November 20: Bihar is set to witness a historic political milestone on Thursday as Nitish Kumar takes oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time. The grand ceremony, scheduled at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, is being organised on an unprecedented scale, with an expected turnout of several lakh people, making it one of the largest oath-taking events in the state’s history.
A distinguished gathering of national leaders will be present on the occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the chief guest, accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda. Governors, senior Union Ministers and more than a dozen Chief Ministers from states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Assam, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh are expected to grace the ceremony. Several leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Mohan Yadav and Brajesh Pathak reached Patna on Wednesday and checked into Hotel Maurya ahead of the event.
Authorities have made extensive arrangements in view of the massive public participation expected. Special seating and security zones have been created for women, acknowledging their strong role in the NDA’s recent electoral victory.
Nitish Kumar visited Raj Bhavan on Wednesday evening to submit his resignation before staking claim to form the new NDA government. He was accompanied by senior alliance leaders Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. A list of 202 supporting NDA MLAs was submitted to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who subsequently invited Nitish Kumar to form the government.
Security agencies and Patna Police have enforced strict traffic restrictions for Thursday. Major routes surrounding Gandhi Maidan have been designated no-vehicle zones from 6 am to 3 pm, with exemptions for emergency services. Public entry to the venue will be facilitated through Gates 7, 8, 9 and 10, while VIP pass holders will enter via Gate 4. Parking arrangements have been made at Magadh Mahila College, A.N. Sinha Institute, SBI premises and Gyan Bhawan.
With a massive stage, elaborate security, and an exceptional lineup of national guests, the Nitish Kumar 10th oath ceremony is poised to be a landmark moment in Bihar’s political history, reaffirming his position as one of India’s longest-serving chief ministers.
