Priyanka Chopra Reflects on Hollywood Journey: “I’m Still Learning”

Bollywood star turned global icon shares her challenges, reinvention, and support system while navigating Hollywood.

Mumbai, Nov 28 : Priyanka Chopra Jonas, one of India’s most successful actors, has been making waves in Hollywood for nearly a decade. Yet, the actress admits the journey has been far from straightforward. In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Priyanka discussed the challenges, risks, and constant reinvention she faced moving between Mumbai and Los Angeles.

A Career Without a Map
Reflecting on her early days in Hollywood, Priyanka revealed she had no roadmap to follow. “There were very few examples of Indian actors working internationally,” she said. “Everything was trial and error. I made mistakes some good, some not so good and that’s part of starting over.”

For someone already at the top of Bollywood, beginning anew in a different industry was daunting. Priyanka credits her resilience to learning on the go.

Holding on to Herself
Maintaining her identity while adapting to a new culture and audience has been a continuous process. “I don’t know if I did [stay completely grounded],” she laughed. “I’m still figuring things out.”

She emphasized the importance of forgiving oneself for mistakes. “Dust off the mistakes and move forward. Some days it’s easy, and some days it isn’t. And that’s okay,” Priyanka said.

The People Who Keep Her Grounded
Away from the limelight, Priyanka relies on a close-knit support system. “What keeps me grounded is surrounding myself with loved ones not many, just the ones who truly care, who are your champions. They give you confidence to grow and try new things,” she explained.

Exploring Meaningful Stories
In addition to acting, Priyanka is producing impactful content through her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures. Her latest project, the documentary Born Hungry, made with Barry Avrich’s Melbar Entertainment Group, follows Sash Simpson, a boy abandoned on the streets of India who was adopted by a Canadian family and later became a celebrated chef. The documentary is set to stream on JioHotstar.
