Doda Man Arrested Over Social Media Post Containing Communally Sensitive Content
Authorities register FIR after repeated inflammatory posts threaten public harmony
Doda, Nov 28: Police in Doda district on Friday arrested a man for allegedly posting communally sensitive and provocative content on social media, officials said.
The arrest followed a complaint filed at Police Station Doda by Hassan Babur Nehru, a resident of Nehru Chowk, against Amreek Singh, son of Ranbir Singh, from the Beoli area.
According to the complaint, Singh is a habitual offender who frequently livestreams inflammatory content on Facebook. On November 26, he allegedly posted abusive and derogatory remarks targeting a specific community on a Facebook page titled “Panchmukhi Pahadi Rajpoot.”
Authorities said the content was widely shared online, posing a risk to public order, promoting enmity between communities, and hurting religious sentiments. Singh had previously been arrested in March 2023 for posting similar material and was placed under preventive detention at District Jail Bhaderwah.
Police have registered FIR No. 269/2025 under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. Citizens are urged to use social media responsibly, with authorities warning that strict action will be taken against those spreading hatred, misinformation, or communal discord.
