Shantmanu inaugurates “Art of Living – Educators Development Program”

JAMMU, DECEMBER 01: A three-day “Art of Living – Educators Development Program” was today inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Higher Education and Director SCERT, Shantmanu, at Bhartiya Yog Sansthan (BYS), Jammu.

The program is being organised in collaboration with JKSCERT and DIET Jammu, with the aim of addressing stress and promoting holistic well-being among the educators through Sudarshan Kriya Breathwork, mindfulness practices and emotional regulation techniques.

In his inaugural address, Shantmanu highlighted the growing need for incorporating wellness, emotional resilience and stress-management strategies into the professional development landscape for teachers. He noted that the educators today manage diverse learner needs and increased expectations, making it essential to nurture their inner balance and overall well-being.

The ACS emphasized that such initiatives strengthen emotional stability, enhance professional effectiveness and help the teachers cultivate empathetic, supportive and engaging learning environments.

Appreciating the collaborative efforts of SCERT J8K, DIET Jammu, and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, he reiterated the commitment towards building a mindful, motivated and future-ready teaching community.

Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, Professor Sindhu Kapoor, also addressed the gathering, commending the enthusiasm of the participating teacher educators. She emphasized the importance of integrating mindfulness, reflective practices and emotional regulation into teacher education, noting that the vision of NEP 2020 calls for educators who are not only academically proficient but also emotionally a rounded and resilient. She remarked that programs like this equip teachers to handle classroom challenges with composure, strengthen interpersonal relationships and foster deeper self-awareness.

Dr. Kapoor reaffirmed SCERT Jammu’s dedication towards advancing transformative and learner-centric professional development initiatives that contribute meaningfully to educators’ well-being.

The event was graced by Arunima Sinha, Senior Faculty of the Art of Living, Lifestyle Consultant and Meditation Facilitator, who attended as the Guest of Honour and will serve as the lead resource person for the three-day training.

A total of 30 Teacher Educators-15 from DIET Jammu and 15 from SCERT Jammu division are participating in the intensive program. The module includes experiential practices, evidence-based well-being tools, emotional regulation sessions and practical strategies aimed at enhancing personal harmony and professional efficiency.

Distinguished dignitaries from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Jammu, including Satpal Sharma (President) and Jia Lal Sharma (General Secretary), were present on the occasion.

Dr. Romesh Kumar, HOD DIET Jammu, Coordinator, presented an overview of the initiative and outlined its objectives.

The program was managed by Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Assistant Professor, Coordinator SCERT; Yogesh Kumar, Associate Coordinator, SCERT and Dr. Romesh Kumar, HOD DIET Jammu.
