Farooq Abdullah Highlights NC-Led J&K Government’s Achievements in First Year Despite UT Challenges

Farooq Abdullah praises NC-led J&K government’s first-year achievements, urges youth and women to actively participate in politics

Srinagar, Dec 5: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Friday highlighted the achievements of the Jammu and Kashmir government in its first year, emphasizing that significant progress has been made despite the limited powers under the Union Territory framework.

Addressing party workers near the mausoleum of NC founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in Hazratbal on his 120th birth anniversary, Abdullah said, “We still have a lot to cover. Whatever we could do this year, it is before you. Our opponents will always highlight what hasn’t been done, but rarely acknowledge the achievements.”

He cited the freedom of movement and expression as one of the government’s key accomplishments, noting that political rallies and protests are now conducted without hindrance. At the same time, he expressed concern over internal party leaders publicly criticizing the party and government.

Abdullah underscored that despite constraints imposed by the Lieutenant Governor, the government’s primary focus has been on alleviating public hardships. “Assembly members visit every corner to address the people’s problems. Our MLAs are working hard, but people expect instant results. We still have four more years, and God willing, you will see visible transformations,” he said.

The NC president also called on young and educated individuals, particularly women, to engage in active politics ahead of the upcoming Municipal and Panchayat elections. “The youth must take charge now. Our educated boys and girls need to step forward and serve their people. Strengthen the party instead of issuing statements,” he urged.

Highlighting the importance of unity within the party, Abdullah added, “Your opponents will try to create difficulties, but you should not be afraid. God bestowed you with success and will continue to guide you.” He concluded by stressing the importance of sending capable representatives to Parliament who can genuinely advocate for the people.

Key Takeaway: Farooq Abdullah defends NC-led government’s first-year performance, calls for youth and women’s active participation, and stresses party unity.
