Crime Branch Kashmir Files Chargesheet in ₹25 Lakh Land Scam

Four accused charged over fake land documents and cheating in multi-lakh rupee fraud

Srinagar, Dec 10: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a comprehensive chargesheet in the ₹25 lakh land fraud case before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, marking a major breakthrough against organised land scams.

The chargesheet, filed under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201, and 120-B of the IPC, names Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Bashir Ahmad Ganie, Javeed Ahmad Hakak, and a deceased Pathwari as accused for allegedly preparing and using fake land documents to cheat buyers.

The case arose from complaints by multiple victims who purchased 8 Kanals of land through brokers. Investigations revealed that mutation numbers were forged, and the buyers were misled into believing the transactions were genuine, resulting in financial loss of ₹25 lakh.

The probe uncovered prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy, prompting the EOW to submit the chargesheet for judicial determination.

The Crime Branch Kashmir reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens from economic crimes and ensuring justice through meticulous investigations.
