Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer end marriage after seven years

Comedian shares on Instagram that she and chef husband are parting ways, emphasizing love, respect, and co-parenting of their son Gene.

America, Dec 14 : American actor and comedian Amy Schumer has announced that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, are ending their marriage after seven years. The couple described their split as mutual, peaceful, and “amicable,” with a continued focus on raising their son, Gene.

Amy shared the news directly with fans on Instagram, stating: “Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.” She also requested privacy during this period.

True to her comedic style, Amy addressed and dismissed circulating rumours about weight, looks, or career success influencing their decision, joking that neither was a factor in the split.

Schumer and Fischer married in February 2018 in a private ceremony and welcomed Gene in May 2019. The couple has consistently emphasized family and co-parenting, and sources told People magazine that the separation is calm, respectful, and drama free. “There’s nothing ugly,” said a source, describing the process as smooth and understanding.

For months, fans had speculated about the couple’s relationship after reports in November suggested they were navigating “normal issues” common in long-term marriages. Amy had previously reassured fans that the couple remained committed, addressing rumours about weight loss and autism.

The couple’s last public appearance together was at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2025. Despite parting ways, both Amy and Chris remain focused on their son and maintaining a respectful co-parenting relationship.
