Thai Authorities Deport Luthra Brothers Back to India
Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra handed over to Indian authorities amid probe into deadly December 6 blaze
Bangkok, Dec 16: Thailand authorities on Tuesday deported Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub where 25 people were killed in a fire on December 6, to India.
The deportation follows an ongoing investigation into the deadly blaze, which sparked public outrage and scrutiny over alleged safety violations and lapses by the nightclub management. The Luthras, owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, had fled to Phuket shortly after the incident, prompting an Interpol Blue Corner Notice against them.
Thai authorities detained the brothers in Phuket on December 11 after intervention by the Indian mission, which maintained close coordination with the Thai government. Videos circulating online showed the Luthra brothers at Bangkok airport before their departure.
Upon arrival in India, they will be handed over to authorities for further legal proceedings. Goa Police have already arrested five managers and staff members in connection with the fire.
