PM Modi highlights India’s strong growth, invites Jordanian investors at India–Jordan Business Forum in Amman
Amman, Dec 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India is steadily moving towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, highlighting vast opportunities for Jordanian businesses and investors, as he addressed the India–Jordan Business Forum in Amman during the first leg of his three nation tour.
Addressing the forum jointly with Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, PM Modi underlined India’s strong economic momentum and emphasis on long-term partnerships. “In the world of business, numbers matter, but trust and long-term relationships matter even more. India is pacing towards becoming the third-largest economy globally, with a growth rate of over eight per cent. Our doors are open for Jordanian businesses and investors,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of reviving historical links between India and Jordan to unlock future prosperity and deepen economic cooperation.
King Abdullah II, speaking ahead of the forum, described it as a vital platform to expand business-to-business ties and encourage joint investments in key sectors. He said the forum would help strengthen economic collaboration and promote shared growth between the two nations.
During his visit, PM Modi is also scheduled to tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra.
India–Jordan ties strengthened with key agreements
PM Modi arrived in Amman on Monday and was accorded a formal welcome by Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan. He later held talks with King Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace, covering bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.
In a special gesture, Crown Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II accompanied PM Modi to the Jordan Museum earlier on Tuesday.
India and Jordan signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding during the visit to boost cooperation in renewable energy, water management, digital transformation and cultural heritage. Jordan also expressed its intent to join Indian-led global initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance.
PM Modi later posted on X that the outcomes marked a significant expansion of the India–Jordan partnership, particularly in clean energy and climate-focused cooperation.
