Six Srinagar Flights Cancelled Amid Adverse Weather, Operational Constraints

Dense fog in northern India disrupts air traffic; passengers advised to check flight status before travel

Srinagar, Dec 31: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were disrupted on Wednesday, with six arrival and departure flights cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and operational issues, airport authorities confirmed. The cancellations come amid dense fog affecting Jammu and several parts of northern India.

According to a post shared by Srinagar Airport on X, five flights one IndiGo, three Air India, and one Air India Express were cancelled due to weather-related factors, while one SpiceJet flight was called off owing to operational reasons.

“Please note that the flights stand cancelled as of now due to operational and weather-related reasons for today. Passengers are advised to reconfirm their flight status with the concerned airline before travelling to the airport. Further updates will be shared as received. We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation,” the airport authorities said in the post.

In a separate update, the airport authorities informed that Air India Express flight IX 1271/1272 (Jammu–Srinagar–Delhi), scheduled to arrive at 1:45 pm and depart at 2:20 pm, was also cancelled due to anticipated adverse weather conditions at Jammu.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an advisory urging passengers to track flight updates directly with airlines and arrive at airports earlier than usual. “Low visibility due to dense fog is affecting operations at a few airports across northern India, which may result in flight delays. AAI teams are on the ground to assist passengers and ensure safe and smooth operations,” the advisory said.

Earlier on Tuesday, dense fog disrupted flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, leading to multiple cancellations and diversions.
