NC welcomes decision to suspend Power Tariff Surcharge

Says decision underscores that public welfare remains the cornerstone of Omar Abdullah led govt

Srinagar, 01 Jan: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar Thursday welcomed the decision to put the new Time of Day (ToD) power tariff on hold for domestic consumers, stating that it reflects the Omar Abdullah-led government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare and responsive governance.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Imran emphasised that the suspension of the ToD tariff is a timely and much-needed relief for households across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly during the harsh winter months when electricity is an essential necessity. “The Omar Abdullah led elected government has shown that it is deeply aware of the everyday challenges faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and has acted decisively to alleviate the financial burden on domestic consumers,” he remarked.

He also said that the matter has been taken up with the Central Government in order to seek long-term solutions for addressing power-related challenges faced by domestic consumers in the region.
