“Panel Constituted to Inspect Bypassed Sections of Old NH-44”

Joint panel to assess road condition between Udhampur and Ramban before formal handover to PWD (R&B).

Jammu, Jan 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a committee to carry out a joint inspection of the bypassed stretches of the old National Highway-44 between Udhampur and Ramban ahead of their formal takeover by the Public Works (R&B) Department.

The committee will assess the current condition, safety aspects, and maintenance requirements of the bypassed highway sections before they are officially transferred to the PWD for upkeep and management. Officials said the inspection aims to ensure that the roads meet prescribed standards and that any deficiencies are identified prior to the handover process.

The move is expected to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibility and help maintain road safety and connectivity along the erstwhile NH-44 alignment.
