Former Disney Actor Steven Anthony Lawrence Claims Universal Fired Him for Reporting Suspected Pedophile
Steven Anthony Lawrence claims Universal Studios dismissed him after raising safety concerns involving a suspected pedophile at the theme park
India, Dec 06 : Fans of Disney Channel’s Even Stevens were taken aback over the weekend after Steven Anthony Lawrence, best known for his role as Bernard “Beans” Aranguren, revealed he was let go from Universal Studios Hollywood. The 35 year old actor claims his termination came after he reported a suspected pedophile in areas frequented by children.
Lawrence shared the revelation on Instagram, posting a message along with a photo of his Universal employee ID and a Toad costume from his performance. “It is with a heavy heart I have to announce that my time with Universal Studios has ended,” he wrote. “I delayed posting this for about a month. I was hoping we could find some sort of amicable solution. Because I absolutely loved performing and dancing with all you amazing people.”
Allegations of retaliation
According to Lawrence, his dismissal followed a complaint to his supervisor and a Universal HR representative regarding a suspected pedophile. He did not provide details about the incident or his specific role at the park.
“While I will truly miss my job, I cannot be associated with an organisation or people that don’t care about performer or guest safety while numerous people continue to get hurt,” Lawrence wrote. He also issued a warning to parents: “With what I know, I WILL NEVER ALLOW MY KID TO GO TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD.”
Universal’s response
Universal Studios Hollywood responded the following day, stating the allegations were “inaccurate and without merit.” A spokesperson told TMZ, “We take all employee concerns seriously. We have established processes for raising any concerns without fear of retaliation.”
