EAM Jaishankar Meets Indian Diaspora in Luxembourg, Highlights Their Key Contributions

External Affairs Minister lauds Indian community’s contributions as India Luxembourg relations expand across politics, business, and technology.

Luxembourg, Jan 7 – External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged with members of the Indian diaspora in Luxembourg on Wednesday, commending their valuable contributions to strengthening ties between India and the European nation.

Addressing the community, Jaishankar highlighted the growing India-Luxembourg partnership across multiple sectors, including politics, business, and technology. Sharing insights from his meetings with Luxembourg’s leadership, he said, “At every meeting  with the Grand Duke, the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Minister  I received effusive praise for the Indian community. It left me with a very positive impression of a well-integrated, contributive community.”

EAM Jaishankar emphasized Luxembourg’s strategic importance, noting that as a founding member at the heart of the European Union, it wields significant influence over EU decision-making. “At a time when India is ramping up engagement with the EU, Luxembourg’s support and goodwill are invaluable,” he added, pointing to ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement and cooperation in technology, defense, connectivity, and mobility.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar met Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and conveyed warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu. Following the meeting, he shared on X, “Value his positive sentiments for India, and for deepening our bilateral partnership.”

The interaction underlined the pivotal role of the Indian diaspora in promoting India’s interests abroad and fostering closer political and economic cooperation between India and Luxembourg.
