“Woman Fatally Shot by Husband Inside Hardoi Police Station”
Security Lapse Under Scrutiny After Fatal Shooting of Woman Recovered by Police Five Days Earlier
Hardoi, Jan 12: A shocking incident unfolded in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, when a man shot his wife dead inside a police station on Monday morning, raising serious questions about security arrangements.
The victim, identified as Soni, had eloped with her lover, Surjeet from Shahjahanpur, five days ago. After learning about her disappearance, her husband Anoop lodged a complaint on January 8. The police recovered Soni and her lover on Sunday and brought them to the station.
At around 10:45 am, after finishing her meal at the police mess, Soni stepped outside when her husband arrived. Anoop reportedly pulled out a country-made pistol and shot her in the shoulder, the bullet piercing her chest. She collapsed on the spot, bleeding heavily.
Police personnel immediately intervened. The accused attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended on the spot. Senior officers inspected the scene, and an inquiry has been ordered into the security lapse that allowed the shooting to occur inside the station.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena said:
“The woman was recovered by police on Sunday and was scheduled for a medical examination. Unfortunately, her husband shot her near the police station mess. Police personnel intervened immediately, and the accused has been apprehended.”
Further investigation is underway, and authorities have assured strict action against anyone found responsible for lapses in security.
