Prime Video unveils Sophie Turner’s action ready transformation as the iconic adventurer; series led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge currently in production
Mumbai, Jan 16 : Prime Video has revealed the first official look of Hollywood actor Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in its highly anticipated Tomb Raider reboot series, offering fans a glimpse of her bold new take on the legendary video game heroine.
The streaming platform shared a wardrobe test image featuring the Game of Thrones star in Lara Croft’s signature avatar action ready in shorts, sunglasses and dual pistols. The image highlights Turner’s fierce screen presence, capturing the confidence, grit and fearlessness that have defined the character for nearly three decades.
According to Variety, production on the series is currently underway. Turner leads a strong ensemble cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein.
Speaking about stepping into the iconic role, Turner said she has long admired Lara Croft as a character and the franchise as a whole.
“She has always felt, for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model,” the actor said.
First introduced in 1996, Lara Croft became one of the most recognisable female action figures in gaming and pop culture. The character has previously been portrayed on screen by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, each bringing a distinct interpretation to the role.
The Tomb Raider reboot series is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. It is created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken. Executive producers include Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Dallas Dickinson, Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.
