Delhi Speaker Challenges Mohali FSL Report, Asserts Atishi Video Authentic in Sikh Gurus’ Remark Controversy
Vijender Gupta challenges Punjab forensic report, cites independent examination confirming no tampering in Atishi clip
New Delhi, Jan 17: The controversy over a video featuring AAP MLA and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, allegedly related to remarks on Sikh Gurus in the Delhi Assembly, escalated as Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta rejected the forensic report submitted by Punjab’s Mohali Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
Gupta asserted that an independent forensic analysis of the same video confirmed its authenticity, ruling out any tampering of the audio or visual content. He accused the Punjab government of rushing a separate forensic probe under political pressure to protect its image while pursuing legal action against opposition leaders.
“An FIR was registered in Jalandhar, and within a day, the Mohali FSL submitted a report before the court,” Gupta said. “The Jalandhar Sessions Court’s interim order to remove the video from social media relied solely on that report. Our independent forensic examination establishes that the video has not been edited or manipulated.”
The Speaker claimed the disputed video was officially sent to a forensic lab on January 8, 2026, following opposition demands. However, he alleged that Punjab authorities produced a separate report the next day in a “dramatic manner” and initiated steps that led to court directions against Delhi’s Law Minister.
Gupta raised procedural questions over the Punjab-led probe, including who authorised it, which video was examined, and why the Delhi Assembly was neither consulted nor approached. He added that neither the official assembly record nor Atishi’s voice sample was included in the investigation.
Emphasising the gravity of the matter, Gupta stated that the Delhi Assembly proceedings match the disputed video. He stressed that any interference in legislative processes or misuse of government agencies to settle political scores would not be tolerated, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the dignity of Sikh Gurus.
