SRINAGAR, Jan 20: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday chaired a detailed security review meeting at the District Police Office in Ganderbal to assess the prevailing security situation and evaluate the operational readiness of the district.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including S J M Gillani, V K Birdi, Rajiv Pandey, and Khalil Ahmad Poswal, along with gazetted officers, station house officers, and district officers of Ganderbal Police.
During the review, the DGP took stock of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control strategies, and the overall security plan for Republic Day. He emphasised the need for heightened alertness, meticulous planning, and seamless coordination among all security agencies to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations.
The DGP directed officers to intensify area domination, strengthen checkpoints, and enhance intelligence-based operations, particularly in vulnerable and sensitive locations. Stressing the importance of proactive policing, he called for robust surveillance and timely response mechanisms to neutralise any potential threat to public safety.
Addressing the officers, Nalin Prabhat issued clear instructions for firm and decisive action against anti-national elements attempting to disrupt peace and stability. He reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards activities inimical to national security, while simultaneously underlining the importance of maintaining a people-friendly and professional policing approach.
The DGP also reviewed district-specific challenges and operational feedback, urging officers to remain vigilant, responsive, and committed to upholding the rule of law. He highlighted that effective security is built not only on enforcement but also on public trust and cooperation.
Commending the efforts of Ganderbal Police, the DGP encouraged the force to continue working with dedication, discipline, and integrity. He expressed confidence that with sustained vigilance and coordinated efforts, the district would successfully ensure a secure environment for citizens during Republic Day and beyond.
