Three Flights Cancelled at Srinagar Airport After Delhi NOTAM Issued
Operational restrictions at Delhi Airport disrupt Srinagar–Delhi air services, passengers advised to check flight status
Srinagar, Jan 22: At least three flights operating between Srinagar and Delhi were cancelled on Thursday after a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued at Delhi Airport as part of heightened security arrangements ahead of Republic Day, officials said.
According to a passenger advisory issued by Srinagar Airport authorities, the cancellations were linked to temporary operational restrictions at Delhi Airport, a key aviation hub for Kashmir’s air connectivity. The affected flights were scheduled to operate on the Srinagar–Delhi sector during the day.
Airport officials urged passengers to verify flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport to avoid inconvenience. The advisory also expressed regret over the disruption caused to travellers.
Several passengers were inconvenienced by the sudden cancellations, with many reaching the airport early in the morning amid sub-zero temperatures. While some waited at the terminal, others approached airline counters seeking rebooking options and updated travel information.
Officials said such disruptions are common during major national events due to enhanced security protocols and temporary airspace restrictions. Passengers were advised to stay in touch with airlines for revised schedules and alternative arrangements.
No additional cancellations were announced immediately, though authorities noted that flight operations would remain subject to air traffic clearances at Delhi Airport throughout the Republic Day period.
