CRPF Personnel Among Four Killed in Road Accident in J&K’s Udhampur
Bus loses control on Jammu–Srinagar national highway, hits motorcycle and stationary load carrier near Jakhani-Chenani
Jammu, Jan 27: Four people, including a CRPF jawan, lost their lives in a major road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Tuesday, officials said.
The Udhampur road accident took place around 11 am near the Jakhani–Chenani stretch of the Jammu–Srinagar national highway. A bus travelling from Doda to Jammu reportedly went out of control, first striking a motorcycle before crashing into a load carrier that was parked on the roadside due to a mechanical fault.
At the time of the collision, a mechanic was repairing the stranded load carrier. Both the mechanic and the vehicle’s driver were killed on the spot.
Officials said two passengers travelling in the bus were thrown out through an emergency window due to the impact. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries on the way.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, while traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted following the crash.
